CHICKENS!!!!

We have CHICKENS!!! We got the little girls when they were fuzzy chicks, but I'm just now getting around to blog about our new additions! JJ and I thought chickens would be a good way to teach Josh some responsibility. I know he's only 3, but we've got to start somewhere. And yes it was my idea at first JJ said NO WAY because he had to take care of chickens growing up but then he changed his mind and thought it may be a good idea as well. So we will see if this whole chicken thing lasts or not! We started with 8 chickens but one died and that was a sad day for Josh. He went out with me to the garage to check on the chickens and sure enough Reba was dead ofcourse the only one we had named died. So after I finally got the courage to get Reba out of the pen, I asked Josh if we should put her in the trash or bury her and that's when the big tears started rolling doing his little face. He said "No Mom just leave Reba in the box, I explained to him that Reba was going to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus now. He looked at me after a few minutes and said Mommy how is Reba going to get to Heaven and before I could answer he said I know we could build her a Rocket Ship and send her to Heavenly Father and Jesus! I told him that was a great idea!  So later that night JJ properly got rid of Reba... So now we are down to 7 chickens!  Josh and Emily both love them. Josh could watch them forever and Emily is not afraid of them at all! And believe it or not I touch them too! Josh would now like a goat, giraffe, and a horse.... JJ said NO!

Josh and JJ painting the chicken "poop" as Josh calls it!  Josh picked green for our Chicken Coop!

I was surprised that they let him hold them so much!

Poor chicken doesn't look to comfy!

Emmy eating the dandelions! It kept her busy!

Josh, Brown Spot(the black one), and Naomi! Bet you can't tell which one Josh named:)

That's quite the house for those chickens.

We had chickens once too. The kids loved them and so did the neighbor dogs. We no longer have chickens, but I would love egg laying ones.

That story about Josh and Reba made me teary! He is so cute and sweet! I'm wondering if you happened to record you trying to get the courage to get Reba out and actually doing it. That would probably be pretty hilarious! I can't believe you actually touch them and that it was your idea! LOL!! That coop looks awesome!!! Our kids beg us for chickens every spring and I won't let them have them so we'll have to take them to your house to visit yours some time! They would LOVE it!!!
